Fulfill someone's dream (and it's free!)

I hope you’ve heard about Learning Express Library, a comprehensive test preparation and skill improvement service for college entrance preparation, improving school performance and finding a new career.

Learning Express Library (LEL) is a new MOREnet online resource funded by the Missouri State Library for a statewide subscription through Sept. 2009. LEL offers more than 300 online academic and licensing practice tests, including preparation for the ACT, ASVAB, GRE, LSAT, SAT and TOEFL, and GED, Advanced Placement, civil service, real estate, law enforcement and citizenship exams. The service provides instant scoring and customized feedback.

“After a series of successful grants to partially fund access to LEL for public libraries, the State Library realized that the potential value of the database was such that a statewide offering through MOREnet made sense,” Missouri State Librarian Margaret Conroy told me. “Now all MOREnet members have access to this valuable resource.”

LEL also offers more than just test preparation. It includes skill improvement tests and courses for math, writing and reading comprehension for elementary, middle and high school. More than 130 eBooks are accessible on a wide variety of subjects, such as Job Interviews that Get You Hired, Basic Skills for Homeschooling, Biology Success, Goof Proof Business Writing.

Several librarians across Missouri have written me with LEL success stories.

“We have had several firefighters that have taken the practice test and they said that it helped them tremendously in passing their firefighter’s test,” writes Judy Epperly at Wright County Library. “It is a great resource if we can just get more people informed that we have this service that is available to them at no cost.”

“I had a patron who gets very anxious when test taking and was using LEL to practice taking his exam,” Joplin Public Library’s Patty Crane told me. “He said having it timed and graded was very useful. Also since he worked full-time and had a family, the 24/7 home access was really helpful as he could use it when his schedule permitted.”

If you have a success story to share, I’d love to hear it!

MOREnet and the Missouri State Library believe LEL will prove to be a valuable resource for you and your patrons. Just like the other online resources included in your MOREnet membership, LEL is available to your patrons from their home.
