eThemes tops 1 million hits in FY04 Q2

The eThemes database topped 1 million hits for the first time ever during the quarter between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15, 2003.

eThemes is a growing online database of more than 750 age-appropriate Internet resources organized by topic. Requests for new resources come from eMINTS teachers, but the searchable database is available for all educators’ use. New resources are added weekly. eThemes is a cooperative venture between MOREnet’s eMINTS program and the University of Missouri-Columbia’s College of Education.

Since its inception in 2000 eThemes has grown steadily in size and importance to Missouri educators. In October 2003, participants in the eMINTS for Utah program began submitting requests for eThemes resources. As a result of an extensive upgrade by MOREnet’s Systems and Programming group, participating teachers in Utah can request eThemes resources that match their state standards, just as Missouri teachers’ requests are linked to the Show-Me Standards.

As of Dec. 15, 2003, 11,803 distinct links are available for 780 different themes. The themes cover a range of topics in language arts, math, science and social studies. Popular eThemes topics include animal food chains, America’s original thirteen colonies, Native Americans, math graphs and the skeletal system.
